Planting for the future

The Commission on General Services and the Social Action Commission jointly initiated a tree planting activity last July 19. This took place at 4:30 in the afternoon at the empty grounds of the seminary located beside our basketball courts. The affair saw the transplanting of Shorea Negrosensis (Philippine Mahogany) seedlings and Musa acuminata (Common Banana) stalks.

A simple program was headed by Sem. Louiegene Arnold Valdez, Chair of the Commission on General Services and Vice General Beadle of the seminary. A simple introduction and words of inspiration were delivered by Sem. Raymundo Songyap, General Beadle, followed by the Act of Commitment to the Conservation of Nature led by Sem. Andres Nuesca, Jr.

The activity carried the theme Tanim Ko, Aalagaan Ko.This is one of the activities that responds to the LET'S GLOW program of ICST, the seminary's ecological project.

The Bin-I , Graduates of ICST Class 2007, visited their alma mater last July 26, 2010. The visit formally started with a Eucharistic celebration which was in honor of the Memorial of Sts. Joachim and Anne, and was presided by Rev. Fr. Samuel Baruela of the Diocese of Bangued, and followed by a program prepared by the seminarians.

The members of the class who concelebrated during the mass were: Rev. Fr. Ramelle Rigunay of the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia, Fr. Edilberto Calderon and Fr. Eric Galivo of the Archdiocese of Ligayen-Dagupan, Fr. Alejandro Bangilan III of the Diocese of Baguio, and Fr. Orlando Mallillin of the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao.

Fr. Orlando gave the homily for the celebration and reminded that like Sts. Joachim and Anne, parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we should make an effort to see the mysteries of God in the light of faith. Fr. Edliberto extended their gratitude after communion for the warm welcome, the support and prayers they have received.

At the program that followed, the General Beadle, Sem. Raymundo Songyap formally welcomed them. The alumni all gave words of inspiration and reminders for every seminarian to respond generously to their formation. They also related some of their unforgettable experiences as seminarians.  After a response from the Very Rev. Nick A. Vaquilar, Rector of the seminary, the Bin-I class, in solidarity with the goals and objectives of ICST, left an amount as their contribution and gratitude to all.
